Balance Transfer Credit Cards And Their Rewards

by: Bradley Carson

If you haven't been credit card shopping recently, you'd be amazed at the variety offered today. In addition to the different interest rates, the extent of rewards or perks offered is vast. There are cards offered to fit everyone's needs. Good credit, bad credit, in between, 0% APR introductory offers, sky miles, cash back,... just to name a few.

Of course the financial experts would tell you to watch that credit card debt, pay off the balance every month so you don't have to pay interest. If you do have high balances the experts would also tell you to take out a loan on your home so you could get a lower interest rate and tax advantage too. But that's not always realistic or possible for some. Perhaps they just bought their first home and the equity is limited. There could be a number of reasons why the professional financial advice just won't work. So what to do?

What if you just purchased your first home and your credit cards had balances with interest being accrued each month? Then say you like to travel, but you have these bills. Could you plan a trip in the not too distant future? I believe you could.

Most of the credit card companies today have 0% APR introductory offers. This rate is good for six to twelve months and many times is valid for balance transfers and purchases. In addition, many offer rewards such as air miles.

First figure out the most you could pay each month on these accounts combined. Apply for a card that offers 0% APR for twelve months and transfer the balances that are accruing interest to this new account. Now remember, you're saving interest each month. Then you could use the credit card as much as possible for daily expenses, keeping track of and setting that amount aside each day. At the end of the month, you should pay the amount determined which you could afford on the balance transferred and then pay the entire amount charged for the monthly expenses.

By doing this, you would be paying off the older balance with a 0% interest rate and earning rewards at the same time. At the end of the twelve months you may very well have enough points to take that planned trip. Your credit card balance should be paid off almost completely.

When things seem out of reach, you can achieve them, as long as you have a plan.

About The Author

Bradley Carson is an internet marketer. http://cards-king.com/

Benefits From Small Business Credit Cards

by: Rudy Hadisentosa

Imagine hiring an accounts keeping agent for free for your small business. This is what small business credit card does for you indirectly. However, this is not the only benefit. There are a lot of other benefits too. It?s for these benefits that the small business credit cards have gained the status of a necessity today. Let?s see what these benefits are.

1. Auto-segregation of business expenses

This is the most important benefit from using a small business credit card. You just have to ensure that you make all your business payments using your small business credit card and your monthly credit card statement will clearly and accurately reflect all your business expenses. You can use this further for accounting purposes or business planning.

2. Rolling credit

Small businesses, as any business, incur expenditures first and earnings later e.g. a business might need to make purchases, pay their staff, incur maintenance costs etc, all towards building a product or providing services to their clients. The client is, of course, going to make payments. However, there is a time lag between these expenditures and earning. A small business credit card allows you to roll-over the credit i.e. you can pay for your expense using your credit card especially when you are expecting the client to pay in a month or so. This way you are rolling-over the credit to your small business credit card supplier. Thus the money to fund those expenses doesn?t come from your cash account

3. Emergency help

This is something which every small business requires. Small businesses experience crests and troughs. You never know when an immediate need for money might arise (on account of new purchases etc for a new project). More importantly, such a need generally arises from more/new business and you would surely not want this good news to be transformed into bad news. In such situations, a small business credit card can become really handy and bail you out.

4. Rewards

As with personal credit cards, the small business credit cards too have membership rewards. When choosing a small business credit card, this factor should also be given proper importance. Based on the requirements of your business, the rewards program of one credit card might suit you better than that of another credit card e.g. if your business involves a lot of air travel, a credit card offered by an airlines might give you additional benefits in terms of how fast and how much award points you earn. You can then barter these points for other benefits or products.

5. Other benefits

There are a lot of other benefits too which apply to small business credit cards. Though some of them are similar to what you have for personal credit cards, the ones for small business credit cards generally have something extra with them. These benefits include: cash back option, discounts on certain merchandise, free travel insurance, free baggage protection, discounts on hotels and rental cars and many more. Again, since these vary from company to company, you might as well look for these when choosing a small business credit card for your business.

With so many benefits, small business credit cards are really indispensable and demand attention.

About The Author

Rudy Hadisentosa: CCN.com is a free online credit cards review and application website.
Balance Transfer Credit Cards ? How Good Are They?

by: Peter Kenny

Are you looking for ways to save yourself money? If the answer is yes then read on as I have the answer to your prayers, by changing your credit card to one that offers a balance transfer deal.

The credit card companies are looking for your business, so there has never been a better time to check out the great deals that are on offer, and save yourself some money at the same time. One of the ways to do this is by looking for credit card companies that are offering Balance transfer deal.

0% balance transfers ? what are they?

Balance transfer deals, what are they I here you ask! They are here to save us money and using one will be a great advantage to you. If you are not sure how they work read on and I will explain,

A balance transfer is when you move your balance from your existing card to another card that is giving you a better APR. A lot of companies are jumping on the bandwagon with this deal they will offer you 0% interest for a period of time, it could be 6 to 9 months or even up to a year. A typical example is say the card you had was charging you a an APR of 27.9% and your balance is ?2000, your monthly payment would be ?300 you will not have cleared your balance after a 6 months period, in fact you would have paid ?494 in interest and you would still owe ?694. If you could have put this amount into a balance transfer deal then the amount due at the end of the six months would be ?200, saving you ?494 how good is that!

Choose the card that suits you?

Take your time when looking for these deals as there are many out there. Check the junk mail, as it might not be junk after all, or on the Internet, there has never been a better time to take advantage of these great deals. These companies want your business so look around for the best deal to suit you.

If you change your credit card to one with the 0% interest free period, please double check the APR once your free period is over to make sure it is lower than your last card, as you don?t want to be costing yourself more money.

Once you decide to switch cards, and your initial 0% interest free period is up do not be afraid to change to another one and use that one in the same way, it is about time we got something back from these credit card companies.

For credit card advice please visit here http://www.creditcards-gb.co.uk/creditcardadvice.html

Remember?

1) Shop around for the best deal

2) Take into account your personal circumstances

3) Make sure you are aware of the new credit cards APR after the introductory deal is over

4) Do not apply for too many credit cards at once as this may affect your credit rating

About The Author

Peter Kenny is a writer for creditcards-gb, For additional articles and an extensive resource for everything about credit cards, please visit us at http://www.creditcards-gb.co.uk and http://www.creditcards2go4.com

Are Student Loans Better Than Credit Cards?

by: Vanessa McHooley

When applying for student loans, it?s so important for prospective college students to calculate their finances as best they can to receive the appropriate funding. From tuition and books to room and board, living expenses and food, students should make sure to secure the funds they actually will need to get them through each semester at college.

By applying for the correct amount, students won?t find themselves in a bind or get themselves into a credit card nightmare.

Way too many college students these days get into big trouble with credit cards. It?s unfortunate that students too inexperienced to know better receive enticing credit card offers in the mail. Usually when a credit card offer looms over a student, it?s like dangling a carrot in front of a rabbit. The student grabs the credit card offer without thinking ahead. Credit cards oftentimes appear to be a quick fix or a type of ?free money,? and they then become the remedy students think they need.

Student Loans versus Credit Cards

If anything, it?s the opposite. Like student loans, credit card debt must be paid back. There?s a huge difference though. Student loans usually are taken out with fixed interest rates, depending on the type of loan and a students? credit rating, amount of loan, repayment terms, etc.

However, there?s usually a catch when students receive those ?amazing? credit card offers. The catch is sky-high finance charges, some as high as 22 percent! However, oftentimes students don?t think about the finance charges when they accept the credit card offers. It?s kind of like, ?I?ll think about that later.?

Some students who haven?t taken out enough student loans to cover their college expenses resort to credit cards to pay for necessities, books and even rent! They?ll use their credit cards to take out cash advances, which usually have even higher finance charges than by simply charging.

Never-ending Cycle of Debt

There are students who accept more than one credit card offer. After hitting the limit on one credit card, it?s easy to accept another and then another, and so on. With the high interest rates and finance charges attached to these credit card offers, students easily can rake up more than they bargain for. When students pay off credit cards by only paying minimum monthly payments, they are making their financial situation worse. Finance charges accrue month after month. It could take almost a lifetime to pay off the credit card bills.

About The Author

Vanessa McHooley

This article is distributed by NextStudent.
Accepting Credit Cards For Your Online Business

by: Keith Baxter

Did you know that one of the best ways to increase sales for any online or offline business is to offer your customers the convenience of paying by credit card? As a merchant, you have several options available when it comes to becoming part of the credit card acceptance and processing chain. Here's a quick guide to get you thinking.

Merchant Accounts

If you want your online business to be capable of accepting credit card payments, you must have some type of merchant account. A merchant account allows you to take credit cards as forms of payment in a safe and secure manner.

You apply for a merchant account by filling out an application and signing a fee agreement. Unfortunately, navigating the merchant account maze can be difficult if you do not have financial experience. There are many different companies out there, and they all have a deal to offer. But before you sign up for anything, read the fine print.

The three main fees you need to look for are the set-up fees, the percentage you will pay for each transaction, and the monthly fees. All of these fees need to be taken into consideration. One company may advertise low set up fees, but they may take a higher percentage of the sale or the monthly fees may be considerably higher.

There are two types of merchant accounts, your own personal merchant account or a third party merchant account. A bank will open your own account and although they may have higher initial opening costs, these accounts generally have a lower transaction fee (what you pay them for each transaction).

Deciding which of these two types will work best for you is a personal decision, but if your business is established and thriving, the bank-based merchant account will probably work best.

Third Party Merchant Account Providers

There are a large number of providers out there, all offering what is sure to be the best deal ever. Let's evaluate some of the top providers and see what it is they really offer.

2CheckOut (2CO) offers instant acceptance for new merchants and has a $49 setup fee, no monthly fees, and an average transaction fee. The account offers a built-in shopping cart and accepts one-time or recurring payments. They accept both physical and digital goods merchants.

ClickBank offers a one-time setup fee along with a transaction fee of $1.00 plus 7.5% of the sale price. There is no monthly fee. They will also handle tracking and paying your affiliates automatically. They only accept merchants selling digital goods.

PayPal has no setup fee and a sliding transaction fee, all of them very low, based upon sales volume. They accept both physical and digital goods merchants and have various methods for you to tightly integrate their interface with your site. Subscriptions and one-time payments can be processed.

This is just a general overview of some of your payment options. Before you decide, do some in depth research and find the account that will work best with your company's needs.

Copyright 2005 Gibble LLC

About The Author

Keith Baxter

For more information and resources on credit cards, please visit: http://www.consumer-news.net.

Accepting Credit Cards on your Website

by: Hans Hasselfors

If you are building an online shop, you will need to address the question of taking payments for orders. You can, of course, request that a check payment be sent to you in the mail. Most shopping basket software allows you to select this option when you are setting it up. If you already have an offline, bricks and mortar business, you may simply wish to accept credit card payments over the phone.

However, there are some basic problems with these solutions and it all comes down to the way people shop on the internet. Customers expect to be able to add items to their basket and proceed to the checkout to pay. If they then find they must telephone you or print out and send their order, they may simply abandon their order and hop over to another website. Shopping online is all about convenience and if you are unable to provide this, you may be losing customers without even being aware of it.

So, what are your options and what is it all going to cost? Well, the good news is you can do it all very simply and cheaply. Paypal does not have a set-up charge and is a large and trusted online payment processor servicing 78 million accounts worldwide in 56 countries. Your only cost is a small percentage on each sale; a transaction charge. Payments from your website go straight into your Paypal account from where you can transfer amounts to your bank account with the click of a button.

Once you sign up with a payment processor, you can either link to their secure server from your shopping basket facility or build 'add to basket' buttons via a simple web query form. The html generated is then pasted next to items on your web page and your customers will be transferred to a secure server when they go to checkout.

Traditional merchant accounts are normally set up through your own bank and will become integral to your business account. Having your own merchant account gives you the choice of many different online payment gateways. Most, however, do charge a set-up fee, monthly fee and transaction charge. Just as you would offline, do make sure you research any company you sign up with on the internet. Print out and read their terms and conditions. Take particular notice of where they are operating from, their fees, when and how you will receive your money into your account.

Another point to consider is the question of chargebacks. This happens when a buyer requests a refund of an amount already paid to you. Reasons include not receiving goods ordered or items arriving faulty, damaged or not as described. Sometimes requests are made if the buyers card was used fraudulently.

If the chargeback request is successful, your merchant payment processor will charge you a processing fee. However, some companies will now provide you with insurance against chargebacks inclusive in your monthly fee. It's certainly worth shopping around for the right solution for you but knowing you have done your research will give you some peace of mind.

About The Author

This Article Was Published By Hans Hasselfors, from The Business Professional.
0% Credit Cards

by: Neil Brown

These days, credit cards (http://www.credit-cards-uk.eu.com) in the UK are competing with each other on two very attractive offers with a headline rate of 0%. These 0% credit cards will be either balance transfers; introductory purchases offers or a combination of the two. This article looks at how to get the best out these types of card and the things to that the credit card companies want you to do and therefore the things to avoid. There is a school of thought that believes that these types of card will soon be a thing of the past as they cost the credit card companies too much profit, as consumers get wiser to the pitfalls.

A balance transfer credit card (http://www.credit-cards-uk.eu.com/BalanceTransfers.html) is basically an offer of either a zero interest rate or very low interest rate for a set period. The typical period is 6 months although there are variations on this and there have even been some low rates set for the lifetime of the balance. However, these are becoming rare. Once, the offer period expires then the outstanding balance reverts to the standard rate on purchases. This is very important, as at this point the credit card company will hope the consumer will not take any action and so the company can begin to earn money on the balance.

A 0% purchase offer credit card (http://www.credit-cards-uk.eu.com/0CreditCards.html) has many similarities to the balance transfer offers. The introductory rate and period are usually 0% and 6 months in the same way as the balance transfer. Also, once the period expires the outstanding balance is subject to the standard rate on purchases. It is an important point to note that the introductory rate does not apply indefinitely on purchases made in the period, but only applies for the duration of the introductory period.

It is often the case that credit card companies will offer both the balance transfer and 0% on purchases on the same card. When this is not the case it is wise to keep balance transfers and purchases separate. This is because the balance transfer portion of an outstanding balance will be paid off quicker than the standard rate purchases. Therefore an increasing portion of the balance will be subject to the standard rate and the balance transfer portion will decrease at a faster rate. There is nothing to stop a consumer obtaining a credit card with a balance transfer and a separate low interest credit card for any purchases to be made. That way the benefits of the offers are maximised.

In summary the balance transfer and 0% purchase offers can be of great benefit to the consumer provided that the consumer understands how to use the offers to their advantage. A degree of discipline is required in managing repayments. Also, the cardholder should be aware of any penalties that may cause the offer to be cancelled. Armed with this knowledge then these cards can be made to work for the consumer, but remember that when comparing credit cards (http://www.credit-cards-uk.eu.com/ComparingCreditCards.html) to pay close attention to the typical APR, which is, always stated where UK credit cards are promoted.

About The Author

Neil Brown is a regular contributor to finance sites such as http://www.credit-cards-uk.eu.com.

Business Cards Are Excellent Salesman

by: Viojieley Gurrobat

Since the 19th century business cards were widespread among people of all classes with a business to promote. The earliest form of business cards, known as tradecards, were used as advertising materials and as maps used to direct the public to the merchant?s store. Today business cards are among the most important marketing material that every business must have.

The business card is perhaps the best salesman that you can have. That is why it is essential that it contains much more than your name, address, and contact numbers and services. It should be designed keeping its purpose in mind ? that is its being a powerful sales tool. So let?s start with the design. If you want to create a business card that contains a photo with gradient colors you can try using a glossy paper to ensure that the cards are printed as good as they look on the screen. Or else, you can get disappointed with the print out.

In addition, if your card design contains background color or images, you can use papers that have gaps between them as these gaps will allow you to make up for the unavoidable elusiveness of the printer paper feed system. However, most stock cards don?t have gaps so if you don?t want to have trouble with printing, make sure your photos, images and text are at 3mm off the edge of the card. This way the minor printer imprecision will not destroy your business cards.

When it comes to printing, make sure that the paper stock that you will use is compatible to your printer. As inkjet and laser printer uses different technologies, it is important that you only feed paper type that is attuned to your printer choice. So for instance you will be using a laser printer, using a paper with glossy coating can cause damage to the printer. Hence, the right choice of paper stock will greatly affect your business cards print out.

Now let?s come to the strategies you can utilize in business card distribution. Aside from the usual handing out of your business cards during tradeshows, conventions, meetings and the like, tucking them in your products before delivery can be a good idea. Say you are a florist. You can consider tying your business card around the flowers. Or if use bags in packaging your products, you can staple or tie your card on the outside of the bag. You can also include you cards in your letters and invoices. And if you are really crafty you can slip in your cards into your designs ? you can include them in your greeting cards, emboss them with your rubber stamps or blend them with your other artworks.

There are endless possibilities when it comes to designing and handing out your business cards. You just have to know how to utilize these possibilities to your advantage. Remember that your business cards can be your best salesman, so make them represent you effectively.

About The Author

Viojieley Gurrobat loves readings books in her spare time.
Are We Underestimating What We Spend On Credit Cards?

by: Peter Kenny

An investigation organized by Egg says consumers have greatly underestimated the amount that credit cards are used throughout the United Kingdom, what this means is consumers are spending a lot more than they think. The investigation revealed that when consumers thought they had spent was ?236billion was in fact ?437 billion, some difference!

How come there is such a big difference?

Well most of us usually pay for everything with the plastic card and find it hard to keep track of what we spend.

Most people have more than one credit card and a lot of them transfer their balances from time to time to get the best interest rate, so when you are working with two or more credit cards it?s easy to miscalculate how much you?re spending, and with so many different payment options for you to choose from you can see how there can be such a difference in what we spend, over ?200billion! scary or what?

Another question you have to ask is, if we do not know what is in our accounts how do we know we are not getting ripped off?

Six out of ten consumers didn?t know how much was in their accounts so money could be taken out and they would have no idea. Mind you some would say (not me you understand) if you don?t keep track of your money you deserve to have it pinched.

The British Bankers Association revealed that by the end of September, credit cards sales had fallen for the last two months indicating that consumers are being careful, but with Christmas around the corner I am sure the credit card sales will be up and we will have another bumper spending spree with the plastic cards.

So the question was, are we underestimating what we are spending? well the facts definitely say yes!

So what should we do about it well keep a tighter grip on your accounts, double check what?s coming in and out and make sure everything balances at the end of the month.

good luck!

Some important contacts:

http://www.bba.org.uk

http://www.cccs.co.uk

About The Author

Peter Kenny is a writer for creditcards-gb.co.uk.

For additional articles and an extensive resource for everything about credit cards and loans, please visit us at http://www.creditcards-gb.co.uk and http://www.moneywize.co.uk
